Biography

My name is Skylar Rodriguez and I am completing my MPS degree in Dr. Chris Langdons Ocean Acidification Lab (2024). My research was focused on investigating the effects of alkalinity enhanced cement tiles on Orbicella faveolata post settlement. I studied their growth and survivorship in order to see if this substrate would be able to mitigate some of the effects of ocean acidification. My Bachelors degree was also completed at the University of Miami, and I researched the effects of hypoxia tolerance on Acropora cervicornis. I have attended a NOAA research cruise where I gathered oxygen data, and I would like to continue to study the effects of climate change on calcifying organisms.
